Solutions Brief - Healthcare

A major healthcare organization turned to Bamboo to design and develop their Corporate Intranet Portal using SharePoint. As part of their Corporate Portal deployment, their requirements included a policy and procedure system, a "Request for Legal Counsel" Workflow and a Records Management system. For this they turned to Bamboo and its Case Management framework solution.

As the company continued on their implementation journey, they recognized the need for the ability to print SharePoint list data across the entire organization and in multiple locations. The actual printing solution is an application that utilizes several components from Bamboo but most notably the Bamboo SQL View Web Part. By utilizing components from their solutions library, the company was able to create this printing application with 50% less custom code and delivered the solution in half the time. In addition, by utilizing the Bamboo Products, their solution will require a lot less rework for the next version of SharePoint. The company was pleased with the simplicity and power of these components which saved them time and money by eliminating the needs to write custom code to extract data from legacy systems.

The printing application is currently used by power users, including Construction (issues tracking lists), Training and Development (partial lists of their journals), and IT staff (Asset Tracking list). The reports are on-demand. Any data that is entered is immediately available for the user, enabling them to create a report around it. The report can then be either printed to paper or a link to the report can be emailed out or the report can be recalled instantly via the user interface. The SQL View Web Part is part of their corporate framework for reporting and is used regularly for line item entries specific to each department.
