    Task Interdependency PM Central seamlessly and automatically handles interdependencies between predecessor and successor tasks. Changing the date of a predecessor task affects the dates of the successor tasks as well—a feature SharePoint does not offer. PM Central can also display tasks in a tree view with collapse/expand capabilities. New in R3.0: Assign multiple predecessors to a successor task.
    Task Management From the project site, view all tasks, overdue tasks, my tasks and late tasks as well as a cost view, a tracking view and a scheduling view. View schedule status from the portfolio site by project as well as at the task level. New in R3.0: Exclude weekends and holidays from task scheduling.
    Microsoft Project 2007 and 2010 Integration Use the Bamboo Microsoft Project Add-in with Microsoft Project 2007 and 2010 to import project data to and export it from SharePoint 2007 (WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007) or SharePoint 2010 (Server and Foundation). The Bamboo Microsoft Project Add-in saves mapped fields for easier mapping and allows multiple users to use the add-in on the same desktop without multiple installation. New in R3.0: Sync task updates from Microsoft Project to the PM Central Tasks list (Microsoft Project 2010 only).
    Schedules Tab Displays a Gantt view of active projects as well as a data view of all project tasks.
    Resource Allocation Allocate a percentage of a resource's time to work on a task or project, to more accurately determine resource commitment and availability.

    Adjustable Settings Allows users to turn tabs and lists on/off, delete sites, set alert e-mails, add/remove users, and more, via a familiar menu interface.
    Easy Site Creation Users can choose which site template to use when creating department and project sites.
    Simple Resource Creation Add new resources to the project using the Enterprise Resource Pool or an existing SharePoint account. Add resources to a project during task creation.
    Health Check Use the Health Check report to view which PM Central components were not installed.
    Timer Job Manually run the timer job to update the Project Health List sooner than its scheduled run.
    Navigation Provides user-friendly navigation via tab strips and drop-down lists so that everyone—executives, team members and project members—can quickly get to the information they need.
    Tooltips & Descriptions PM Central features tooltips and descriptions for sections, lists and fields, enabling users to better understand the components and fields that comprise PM Central.

    PM Central automatically tracks individual projects across your company in one workspace. Project team members only need to update the information in a particular list on their project site, and their data is automatically populated in all related areas on the top-level project portfolio site. In this top-level site, the data from all project sites is aggregated for display in portfolio dashboards to provide real-time, at-a-glance executive information.

    SharePoint Project Management Central consists of three site templates:

    • Portfolio (Top-Level) Site: This site shows the aggregated data of all of its project sub-sites. It contains multiple dashboards that report on tasks, issues, risks and schedules. You can have just one portfolio site per site collection so that you can roll up all project sites to just one portfolio site, or you can have multiple portfolio sites with their own set of project sites. This site is only considered a top-level site to its project sub-sites. It does not have to be the top-level site of your site collection.
    • Project Site: This site is a sub-site of the portfolio site and is designed to have its data rolled up to the portfolio site for a comprehensive status of all projects in your portfolio. It is an enhanced template that enforces uniform project data input, visual status of tasks and issues, a Gantt View to track all project tasks at once, and a place for uploading documents, conducting online project-related discussions and managing users and groups separately from the portfolio site (if necessary).
    • Department Site: This in an optional virtual site that allows project managers to filter which projects are displayed in the department site for a selected view.

    These sites are made up of several Bamboo Web Parts that we provide on our storefront today but that have been tailored for this application, along with some custom Web Parts and project-management process logic.

    To get started with PM Central, do the following:

    1. Create and configure the portfolio site.
    2. Create and configure a project site for each project that you want in your portfolio.
    3. Upload existing project data to the project site using List Bulk Import or the Bamboo Microsoft Project Add-in, or input project data manually.
    4. Start using PM Central to manage projects and status.
