Visually communicate date-based list data through several useful views: Go to Date, Task, Gantt, Day, Week, Work Week, Month, Quarter and Year. View information such as events, tasks, milestones, project initiatives, legacy data, or employee vacation plans. Select a SharePoint List, a SQL Server Table or View or a Data View Web Part created by our List Rollup Web Part as the data source for your calendar items. Display calendar items by the list column of your choice, apply color-coding, apply a custom or list view filter to the calendar items, and display holidays stored in a separate list. In addition, configure the Gantt View to display project task information along with percent complete and milestone indicators. The Calendar Plus Web Part also provides support for several languages including Spanish, French, Italian, and German.

The Calendar Plus Web Part offers the following features: Now supported on SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010. New! Data Sources Select a SharePoint List, SQL Table or View, MashPoint/BDC Connection, or a List Rollup DataView Web Part as the data source for your calendar. Interface with Bamboo's List Rollup web part, allowing users to view consolidate tasks from multiple lists in a calendar. Interface with SQL database, provide calendar view of your backend data. Display items from all types of SharePoint lists. Calendar Views View calendar items by year, as well as day, week, work week, quarter, task, Gantt and month view. Select which column to display in the calendar. Wrap items in all calendar views. Show or hide the Calendar toolbar as well as menu items on the Calendar toolbar. Limit the number of items to display in the Month and Year views. Select columns to be displayed in a tool tip when you mouse over a calendar item. View items in a Quarterly view with a 3 or 6 month view. Ability to specify working days and starting day of the work week per Calendar Plus Web Part. Create new calendar items based on content types. Double-click a date or time cell in ANY view to create a new item for that date or time (works with SharePoint Calendar lists only). Print any calendar view. Task Management Color code calendar items by selecting a choice column to code by (such as Status), and a color or Hex Code for each value from the tool pane. Show or hide the color legend. Display project items in a Gantt view, including percent complete and milestones. Set the milestone date instead of automatically setting the date as the Start Date. Set the default date interval to be displayed in the Gantt View. Limit the number of items shown in the Task and Gantt Views. Specify the date and color to display holidays. Select a list or a view for items and holidays from any site within the site collection. Show holidays in all calendar views. Set the minimum height for holiday text to be displayed in the calendar view to ensure it is clearly visible to users. Filtering Set a default filter for your calendar from the tool pane (administrators) or allow users to filter the calendar data real-time using list views. Filter calendar items using standard Web Part connections. Sizing Set the Calendar Plus Web Part size to match the Web Part Zone or specify the height and width in pixels. Style and Language Support Customize the Calendar's appearance with custom CSS or the included collection of built-in skins. Translation support for Web Part interface.
You can configure the Web Part to default to a particular view (i.e. task, day, work week, month, etc.), display a specified number of items per calendar cell, and display the color coding legend for the column you select for color coding. When you select your list for your calendar source data, you can specify which list column you want to display as well as select a column for color coding. The color coding column should be a multiple choice column, such as a drop-down list of options. An example would be a Status column. The Status column usually has several statuses like In progress, Completed, or Deferred. Each of these options can be assigned a color so that when your item is displayed in the calendar, it will show in the color indicated by its status. Once you select your list and color coding, you must specify which single date (i.e. modified, created, begin, end) or date range to use for displaying items in the calendar. Apply a custom filter or list view if needed and indicate from which list you would like to display holiday items. Specify the column to display for holidays as well as the date column and color coding.
The standard SharePoint list calendar view only allows you to display the title column of list items that have a date field associated with them in a daily, weekly, and monthly view for one list. In today's fast-paced world, employees must be able to comprehend large amounts of information in order to quickly make informed decisions. Viewing information in a Calendar view is a powerful tool for communicating tasks coming due, integrating legacy data into SharePoint, status of planned initiatives for the year, company holidays, when employees will be on vacation or out of the office, or major company events.
