The Map Chart Web Part allows the user to color-code list data based on fields such as address, city, state and/or country and display it in a geographical map view. This Web Part enables you to color-code your data using ranges and data operators such as sum, average and count. Create specific map views to display data by area, state, country or region. A full library of maps is supported. Maps covering the world to a country and state level are included.
The Map Chart Web Part reads the geographic data from your SharePoint lists and displays that information on a map image. You can configure the geocoding for the Web Part to use columns from the data source for displaying address, city, state and country information.
An ever increasing number of companies are choosing SharePoint as a collaboration system. One of the main attractions with SharePoint is the ability to quickly build a shared information database through the use of Lists. SharePoint lists can render data in multiple views to present the information in various formats tailored for use by different sets of users. These views can be a list, calendar or other custom views such as our Gantt chart view. One of the views that out-of-the-box SharePoint is missing is a color-coded Map View for SharePoint lists that may contain geographic data. For example, a SharePoint list that is being used to track product sales by US state and country. The Map Chart Web Part enables you to quickly color-code this information by counting, averaging or summing product sales and displaying it on a US Map or continent.
