Quickly import and share large volumes of critical documents and data in SharePoint from legacy databases, spreadsheets, network file directories or SharePoint Lists. List Bulk Import allows you to migrate data and documents into SharePoint from legacy databases, spreadsheets, SharePoint (SPS 2003/WSS V2) to SharePoint (MOSS 2007/WSS V3), or for any SharePoint document management application or organization with large volumes of data and or documents that need to be widely accessed.�Retain valuable index information when importing to SharePoint, eliminating the need for data re-entry. The import program has the option of running in the background, allowing users to continue to work while the application uploads documents and data to SharePoint.�

(1) • Can import data into existing lists that already has data.   • Check for duplicate existing records.  Skip or update with new data.    • Works with many lists including document libraries.   • Automatically import sub folders and create same hierarchy in the target document library.   • The ability to automatically rename files to avoid overwriting of existing files.   • Import parameters can be saved and re-use for subsequent import runs.   • Can be run in the background with scheduled intervals.   • Post-import log file provides summary of success and failure records.   • Import one SharePoint list to another, even across sites, and from SharePoint V2 to SharePoint V3.   • Import data from database table or view into a SharePoint list.   • Import versions of Issues Lists and Document Libraries.   • Import files from network folders into SharePoint Document and Pictures Libraries.   • Supports ASP.NET 2.0 - New   • (1) Includes partial support for this feature.
The List Bulk Import Web Part can be run on a client machine (no server install required). Once installed, you must connect to a SharePoint server that you want to import data to, select a data source to import from (i.e. Excel, ODBC driver, or SharePoint List), map fields from the data source to the target SharePoint List, determine how you want to handle duplicate records, select to import all versions (if importing an Issues List or Document Library with versioning), if needed, and then import the data. You can also choose to save the import configuration to reload it again manually or to schedule regular imports of data to run unattended according to that configuration. There is a log file that can be viewed from the application as well to check on processing and to help resolve any import errors.
