The List Rollup Web Part rolls up selected lists into a single DataView Web Part. To create this DataView Web Part, select a site or area, and then a list and a view, add CAML filtering (optional), and then add the list or view to the Included Lists box. Repeat these steps until all lists have been selected. Then select one of the included lists to be the Master List to determine formatting and the columns to be included in the DataView, type a name for the DataView, and click Create. The rolled up DataView Web Part is created in the Web Part Page Gallery for that page. You can navigate to the Web Part Page Gallery and drag and drop the DataView on this page to view the results. Once you have the DataView the way you want it and you are ready to share it with your users, you can Export it and save it to your desktop or any network location of your choosing. When you want to add the DataView Web Part to a page, just import the Web Part through Modify Shared Page > Add Web Parts > Import.
One of the major attractions of implementing SharePoint is the flexibility to create multiple sites and areas. This gives the IT department the ability to centrally control the server, databases and security, and at the same time allows each department or group the ability to manage their own sub-sites.
