SYMPTOMS

Bamboo logs show this error:

The system cannot find the path specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070003) ---> System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: The system cannot find the path specified.

For Alert Plus, on the support tab, when clicking on the "View" button for Alert Plus Event Handlers, the following error displays:

The system cannot find the path specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070003)

Error Message

CAUSE

This error indicates that the SharePoint farm contains orphan objects (in this case, orphaned sites or site collections), and the product is unable to enumerate the necessary list of sites and site collections.


RESOLUTION

  1. Run stsadm -o enumallwebs. This will display a list of the IDs and site map status for all site collections and subsites in the content database. For more information about this command, see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd789634(office.12).aspx
     
  2. Run stsadm -o enumsites -url <WebApplicationURL>. This will display a list of site collections that are hosted in a particular Web application, and any site collection errors. For more information about this command, see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262492(office.12).aspx
     
  3. Follow the instructions on this Microsoft TechNet article about detecting and deleting orphaned sites. The command must be run on all databases for the Web application:
