Web Parts are a set of controls
that can be deployed to SharePoint
sites, enabling end users to
modify the content, appearance,
and behavior of a Web site directly
from a browser.
These capabilities allow
the end users, with the appropriate level of access, to personalize
a Web application dynamically,
without developer or administrator
intervention.
Technically, Web Parts are
.NET server controls with
additional code built in
to to make them run within
a SharePoint Web Form.
You can think of Web Parts
as controls for users rather
than controls for developers.
Many items that you see on
a SharePoint site are actually
Web Parts, such as lists,
menus and calendars.
SharePoint, in a way, basically
act as a web site that hosts
lots of Web Parts! |
