This article contains two sections:

Note: These steps only work for project sites created using PM Central's project site templates. These steps will not work for team sites that were created using PM Central's project site templates.

Recovering a Navigators Tab

Use Case: An organization uses SharePoint Navigators and its Navigators List in PM Central to create custom tabs for its project sites. A user accidentally deletes one of the tabs on a project site. Use the Navigators List from another project site to recreate the tab and display it in the project site.

Example: The Alpha Project has customized tabs, including the My Summary tab.

A user accidentally deletes the My Summary tab, and it is no longer displayed in the project's top navigation.

the My Summary tab is deleted

Use the Navigators List from another project site to recreate the tab and display it in the project site.

To recover the tab:
You need Design or Full Control permissions to perform these steps.

1) Navigate to another project (or create a new project if you do not already have one). Navigate to the project's Navigators List by selecting Site Actions > View All Site Content and selecting the list. In this example, the list name is Project Site Navigators.

Locate the list item that you want to recreate and note its field values.

2) Return to your original project site and navigate to its Navigators List by selecting Site Actions > View All Site Content and choosing the list. In this example, the list name is Project Site Navigators.

3) Use the ribbon to add a new item by selecting List Tools > Items > New Item.

4) Use the list item's field values from the other project site's Navigators List to create the list item. Make sure the item's sort order is correct. Click Save.

5) The list item is displayed in the list, and the tab is displayed on the project site again.

You can also save the Navigators List from another project site as a list template and create a new Navigators List in the original project site using the list template, as demonstrated in the next section.

Recovering a Navigators List

Use Case: An organization uses SharePoint Navigators and its Navigators List to create custom tabs for its project sites. A user accidentally deletes the Navigators List that is used to display the tabs. Save another project site's Navigators List as a list template and apply that template to the project site to recreate the Navigators List.

Example: The Alpha Project has customized tabs that are created using SharePoint Navigators and the Navigators List. The Navigators List contains the data for the tabs.

Save the Navigators List from another project site, Beta Project, as a list template. Then create a new Navigators List in Alpha Project using the list template.

To recover the list:
You need Design or Full Control permissions to perform these steps.

1) Navigate to another project site (or create a new project if you do not already have one). Navigate to the project's Navigators List by selecting Site Actions > View All Site Content and selecting the list. The list should contain the same columns as the list you want to recreate.

2) Use the ribbon to view the list settings by selecting List Tools > List > List Settings.
