APPLIES TO

• Windows SharePoint Services v3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
• SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010

Problem: 
 
The following error is displayed on SharePoint 2007:

Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\Bamboo.UI.Licensing\feature.xml'

Or on SharePoint 2010:

Failed to find the XML file at location '14\Template\Features\Bamboo.UI.Licensing\feature.xml'

This error can occur when the Central Admin server is on a separate server from the Web Front Ends (i.e., when the Central Admin server is not running the SharePoint Web Application service).

This has also been seen when the Central Administration server is running the Web Application service, and the load balancer configuration may have caused the error.

Resolution:

In Central Administration > Operations > Solution Management, deploy ‘bamboo.ui.licensing.wsp’ to all non-Central Admin Web Applications.
