The Bamboo Platform – MashPoint and the REST API for SharePoint
As Bamboo’s gallery of components for SharePoint grew, we quickly heard demand from clients for synergistic interoperability between components.  We explored many options, including Microsoft’s Business Data Catalog, but found no existing technologies that met our standards for availability, performance and extensibility.  So in 2008, Bamboo introduced MashPoint, a data integration platform for SharePoint.  Standardized on the BDC model, MashPoint is the proprietary mechanism we use to enable real-time data integration within SharePoint and externally to LOB systems.  MashPoint is available for free to SharePoint developers everywhere.  In 2009, MashPoint was enhanced with the addition of the first REST API for SharePoint.  Now even developers with little or no SharePoint experience can interact with SharePoint resources as simply as browsing the Web using the simple vocabulary of REST verbs.
