What is Section 508?
The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was amended by Congress in 1998 to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. The purpose of Section 508 is to eliminate the obstacles that information technology may present to accessing information, present people with disabilities with new opportunities, provide people with disabilities access to information that is comparable to the access available to others, and encourage the development of technologies that facilitate achieving these goals. Therefore, agencies must comply with accessibility requirements when procuring, developing, using or maintaining electronic and information technology unless doing so causes an undue burden in effort or expense.
Which Bamboo Solutions customers are affected by these requirements?
All of our customers operating as federal agencies as well as partners who sell our products to federal agencies.
How is Bamboo Solutions responding to this regulation?
Bamboo Solutions Corporation understands the importance of complying with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act in providing technology to Federal agencies that is accessible to people with disabilities. As a result, we have completed the Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for each of our products in the Bamboo Ultimate Suite, Bamboo Project Management Suite, and Bamboo Administration Suite. These documents are available upon request from our Sales department. Please contact us at email@example.com to request one or more VPATs or if you have any questions.
